Class Basics
VocabularyWeek #5 Homework: Find examples of the vocabulary words in various songs that you listen to. Write down the song, artist, and lyric that exemplifies the term. There are a couple of exceptions: 1- You can skip dramatic irony and verbal irony when completing this assignment. 2- For extended metaphor, you will probably be looking at an entire song rather than a line, so all you have to list are the artist and song title.
(Due Wednesday 9/30)
**3rd Person Objective Point of View is on the worksheet. This simply means that we do not have any insight into any of the characters. This will not be on the quiz on Friday even though it appears on the worksheet.
Week 8 homework: Simply provide an example of a text, movie, or tv show that represents that genre (no explanation required). You do not have to provide an example for the word 'genre.' For the word 'excerpt,' simply put an example of an excerpt and where it came from.
Week #9 Homework: Take each word and definition and put it into your own words to make it easier to explain and differentiate each word.
Week #10 Homework: Use each word in a complete sentence. Winning teams from review game last week will automatically receive a 10/10 on this assignment.

Argumentative Essay Process #2:
For this assignment, you need to look at your literary lenses from Process #1 and figure out which two you want to use as your examples in your essay. You are writing an argumentative essay on social inequalities, so you will need to figure out exactly what about social inequalities you want to argue. You have some freedom here, so look at the things you focused on in your process #1 to help you. Once you figure out what your argument is going to be and which two lenses you want to use, then you can move onto the next step. Remember that the two literary lenses you choose will serve as the focuses for your two body paragraphs. Once you have the argument and literary lenses figured out, all you need to do is write a thesis statement for your essay. Remember that you are only writing one essay one topic and using those lenses as examples and proof for your argument. All that I will need to see tomorrow are the thesis statements. Nothing else. |
